The most popular budget airline carrier of the country Indigo has announced that it will be beginning to operate flights to Chandigarh from Mumbai starting from September 10, 2012. The airline said that this will also mark the addition of Chandigarh as the new sector in Indigo’s network.

Apart from the new flights to Chandigarh, the airline is also ramping up flights between Mumbai and Goa by adding frequencies to this route. With the new flights Indigo will be operating 373 daily flights and will be connecting 33 destinations.

At present the airline has a fleet of 59 Airbus A320 type aircraft. While it is planning its route, Indigo will be connecting Ahmedabad to Chandigarh and Goa to Chandigarh via Mumbai through new flights.

Aditya Ghosh, the president of Indigo said, “Mumbai-Chandigarh, and Mumbai-Ahmedabad have emerged as sectors that have started attracting both leisure and business passengers in the recent past, and hold immense potential for IndiGo. We are also looking at providing affordable fares on these new routes for regular travellers.” Ghosh added that it is their constant endeavour to provide greater flexibility of choice for the customers. Recently the airline emerged as the largest carrier with 27% market share according to the data made available by the civil aviation regulator.
