Indian telecom giant Reliance Communications said on April 23, 2013, that it has partnered with the micro blogging site Twitter to launch a prepaid plan for GSM subscribers in the country. The promotional offer will be available for free for 90 days, after which subscribers will have to pay for the plan.

The company issued a statement which said, “Reliance Twitter Access Pack, is a promotional offer for a period of 90 days during this T20 cricketing season which comes bundled for all new GSM prepaid subscribers with unlimited Twitter access, without paying any extra data consumption charges”. Reliance has also claimed that it is the first operator in the country to partner with the social networking giant,  on the new Twitter Access program.

The social network has customised the Twitter application as a part of the program, where every customer who has subscribed to the Reliance pack will be able to view a message on the header and the footer of the application. This mentions that Twitter is free of charge with Reliance Mobile.

The statement also said that the application will pop up a message in case of additional data usage and that it will be charged only if the subscribers choose to visit an external link while browsing updates on Twitter.
