Auto manufacturing giant Skoda said that it has reduced the discounts on all its cars in India during the festive season. The festive season is usually the time when customers are showered with freebies, however a top company executive said that the step has been taken so as to cut its dependence on such market practices.
The auto company has cut all discounts on its hatchback Fabia, and has also significantly reduced its margin on sedans like Rapid, Superb, Laura and Yeti SUV. Sudhir Rao, the chief operating officer of the automotive giant said, “We are not going to increase discounts, but adopt a different strategy to sell our cars. We will keep our prices real without rendering any concessions.”
The company also admitted that most of their cars will be more expensive than the competition, and that the company expects their superior brand power and contemporary European technology to keep their sales momentum rolling. During the festive season, trends show that huge discounts are usually offered by the auto companies, which include Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors.
Maruti Suzuki is the largest car manufacturer in terms of sales and offers. It gives a Rs. 35,000 discount on its popular models like the Alto, while Tata Manza is stuffed with benefits worth Rs. 75,000. Even Honda offers goodies of up to 50,000 for its potential customers.
