Pizza giant Dominoes has recently introduced a  hot dog stuffed crust pizza. The recent introduction on April 4, 2013, along with other new products was the reason for an increase for underlying sales in the UK to go up by 6.6% in the first quarter.

The new introduction has reassured investors, after an initial slow beginning to the quarter and shares in Dominoes, which jumped more than 6% today. The group also announced that its sales had improved due to the successful short price promotion, which was up against weaker sales during the same period.

Nick Batram, the Peel Hunt Analyst said, “After a relatively lacklustre first few weeks of the year, quarter one finished strongly.” Batram added that the new products and the ongoing growth of the ecommerce channel would continue to provide encouragement to momentum in European markets. Meanwhile, the group is also planning to open 60 new stores in the UK this year and 18 more in Germany, where it already has 20 outlets.

Dominoes also said that its progress in Germany continues to grow, adding that it is seeing some very successful stores especially some among its franchise operators. Lance Batchelor, the former boss of Tesco Mobile said that Dominos continues to show that there are still significant opportunities in the UK for brands, despite the country’s financial troubles.
